Our main enemy – us!
The future of this nation is in the hands of the British people, it is not in the hands of politicians at Westminster, nor Brussels bureaucrats, nor Islamic terrorists, nor the United Nations, or any other political body or group of people. Destiny, change and accomplishment starts in your head and your heart, in your mind and will. The answers, the solutions, lie in the hearts of the people of the nation. If you decide to do something with great resolve and relentlessness, the sky is the limit.
Apathy will be the downfall of the UK; cynicism will destroy ability to crush the opposition that the UK faces. Cynicism is an abiding weakness in the national psyche which could let the nation down at a crucial period in its history. It is that world weariness, that ‘has seen it all before’ mentality that cannot comprehend things working out any differently than they have already done; it is sneering at goodness, that everyone has an ulterior motive for their actions, that even if they apparently are working to help others, society or for the common good, there must be a hidden agenda that in some way serves only themselves and their selfish needs.
If Brits can rise above this stupor of cynicism, that nothing can be done, everything has been decided and no-one can change things, then everything and anything is possible.
Another national characteristic that will cause the downfall of the UK is that we have been trained to be nice, not to offend even at the expense of telling the truth; this is perhaps the number one weakness. It is an admirable quality to treat people with dignity and respect, regardless of gender, religion, race or colour, to be gracious to them and give the benefit of the doubt. But to every virtue there is a corresponding downside. The tolerance, patience and longsuffering of the British people is not unnoticed and is to their credit. But there comes a point where you have to face down deception, obfuscation and deviousness head on and call a spade a spade, without flinching. This will involve confronting head-on worldviews, practices and lifestyles that are simply incompatible with British values.
Coupled with this is an ability to enjoy our remaining freedoms and prosperity, but an inability to see that those things are fast disappearing and that sooner or later you have to fight for your liberties. People have forgotten how to fight, as it has been so long since there has been an existential and obvious threat, and they don’t like fighting. But as has been said before, they may not like fighting, but they will fight if they have to!
In addition there is a tendency to think that the rest of the world thinks like the British. Everyone else will take a very reasonable, pragmatic, accommodating viewpoint and a happy compromise can be reached. No! We have only the example of the Nazis in recent times to teach us that a supposedly Christian civilisation can produce a heinously evil group of men with a twisted worldview who have no understanding of compromise. To deal with the rest of the world you have to realise that different cultures and worldviews think and act in totally different ways. You have to adjust your behaviour accordingly.
There is a really thick fog over the land at the moment that is clouding our judgement and preventing us from seeing things clearly, perceptively and insightfully. Unfortunately it seems to afflict our ruling classes rather more than the average person in the street. This is why the salvation of this nation may not lie in the hands of the political elite but ordinary men and women that have had enough and decide to do something about it. As Geert Wilders the Dutch politician said,
‘If there is hope in Europe, it comes from the people, not from the elites. Change can only come from a grass-roots level. It has to come from the citizens themselves. Yet these patriots will have to take on the entire political, legal and media establishment….’
‘Evil triumphs when good men do nothing.’ Edmund Burke, Irish political philosopher, Whig politician and statesman.
It only takes a small group of people to change a nation completely. The relatively small rudder can steer a great ship. Look at the success of the communists in the old eastern bloc in the past, homosexual activists in modern western society and even the 2000 year old example of the twelve disciples of Jesus to see how a small and committed cadre can cause massive change in culture and societal norms. This pattern will probably happen again, it will be a small but focused cohort in the UK who will change things in this case for the better. They will provide the leadership that is needed and others will follow because they will recognise the authority upon these people. The authority will come from doing the right thing, from integrity, not from overweening aggressive power.
