Quote of Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Russian novelist and historian, “in order to destroy a people, you must first sever their roots.”
Quite so!
The indigenous population are a product of hundreds of years of history shaped by a unique story. No amount of ‘modernising’ or resetting the clock to the year zero can change the fact that there are deep undercurrents in the ‘genes’ and character of the people that override any short term political fads and fashions. These undercurrents are shared by all immigrants who have bought into the island story and assimilated over the centuries. Yes there has been immigration in the past but on a limited scale and over hundreds of years, nothing like the mass immigration we have seen shoehorned into the last sixteen years.
This is why at this time in our history we must reach back into our past and remember from whence we have come, for only then can we re-establish ourselves. Having a sense of history, of our island story and the privileges we have been blessed with, gives us a far stronger foundation to face the challenges of today.
If you want to rebuild, the following are absolutely non-negotiable for a new political movement in this nation. If you do not agree with this don’t bother to read any further:
1) The UK must put its foot down with the EU, that means withdrawal from the EU and resurrection as a sovereign independent nation. Therefore there must at the very least be a campaign for a referendum on whether we should stay in or leave the EU. A party has every right to say in its manifesto that we will commence withdrawal as soon as we enter office, that will save having a referendum!
2) Immigration to be cut to the bone; there are strong grounds for having a moratorium for five years. Then we have time to take stock, and to send out of the country all who are here illegally.
3) All illegitimate government interference in family life, education and the liberty of the individual must be challenged. We must aim for ‘big people, small state.’
4) The traditional family must be the gold standard i.e. mother and father and the children. You destroy this construct and you destroy the nation; you build and cherish it and you build the nation. Strong families are a bastion and protection against totalitarian government.
5) Freedom of speech must be enshrined in law so that anything short of obvious incitement to murder or violence is allowed. The concept of ‘hate speech legislation’ to be struck down as profoundly illiberal.
6) Militant Islam must be called to account, faced down and dealt with in the UK, as totally and completely incompatible with traditional British values. The government must not legitimise political Islam.
7) British history, culture and the values of our own traditions and religion should take precedence in schools. Study of British history to be compulsory for all school children.
8) The UK to develop an outward looking global role in trade, politics and economics, far beyond subjection to the EU. We have long been a nation that has had a global vision, but this does not mean giving up our essential sovereignty.
