The significance of the UK

Government and leadership in the nation now needs to take a strategic view and should be looking 50 years or even more ahead and judge on present trends where exactly we will be by that time. Now it is time to take stock and see where we have come and if necessary change course radically. Five years set by each successive government is too short a time to set a long term direction when another government with a different worldview comes along after five years and undoes or stymies what has been done by the previous government, especially if it takes a wrong direction.

In saying that we need to see what strategy is being used right now to steer the UK in a particular direction. Often supposedly well meaning measures end up leading to precisely the opposite consequences. The equality, anti discrimination and human rights agenda if allowed to continue on its present trajectory will crush freedom in the UK. There are some good things intended in this legislation, because prejudice and discrimination against certain groups of people in the past has been very wrong, but when such legislation conflicts with what is right and wrong you have a problem. Good examples of this have been the inability of the UK to get rid of hate preachers, EU pressure to give prisoners the voter, and those who cannot be kicked out of the UK because of their ‘right to a family life.’ The problem is that when you have too much law to regulate speech and behaviour you are moving into totalitarianism. You cannot legislate human behaviour, that depends on the character of individuals who will primarily need role models of the highest integrity on how to behave, not legislation. Family life ideally should be the incubator in which you teach children how to behave, to develop skills and character that will see them through life. A society should also have a clear framework of morals, or of right and wrong which sets the boundaries on peoples behaviour. Again, this framework should be taught to children through a common culture with accepted mores and standards, but these things should not be imposed through the law.  It has been said that socialists try to make people good, whilst conservatives punish bad people. I said myself a few years ago that if things went on as they were we would become like Nazi Germany in a relatively short space of time. Not in such an obviously thuggish way would we descend to such a state, but all the apparatus of potential state control of behaviour and speech is now in place and will be increasingly used to silence those who deviate from ‘acceptable’ behaviour or opinions. Behind much of the the equality and anti discrimination agenda is a coercive spirit which is forcing people into a mould. This has been obvious for a good while, and is a tried and tested method in the EU of bringing compliance. It can be well argued that the EU is building a totalitarian communist state, and a new soviet style union which will only repeat the mistakes of the past.

But compliance is not the destiny of the UK. This nation is mandated to stand against any form of totalitarianism, control or tyranny, and now that this is happening upon our own shores we are going to need double the amount of courage to deal with the bullying. It has all happened in the past. There is always a spirit of control, a coercive spirit, that wants to dominate Europe, or indeed any continent or society. There never has been a time when you did not have to fight at some point for your freedom. 2000 years ago it was the Roman Empire which used military might to crush opposition. In medieval times it was the power of the Catholic Church, a religious state hierarchy that demanded obedience. The fruit of this was the Spanish Armada that sought to bring England under Catholic control. Then it was Napoleon who had grand ideas for the conquest of Europe, and it was the British who stood up to him. Indeed if the French had won at Waterloo the world may have had a Gallic inheritance rather than the one left by the British Empire. The British Empire left a mixed legacy, but it wasn’t all bad. Then there were the Nazis. The same spirit of totalitarian control took hold of Hitler to bring Europe under the jackboot. Now the method being used is far more deceptive, united economic power leading to united political power, but the same coercive spirit. Right now we are being pushed to the very edge. Yes, we still enjoy the fruits of modern life, but intellectually, morally and spiritually we are going down the drain. The tentacles of the EU have reached into every area of national life. We are again at a point in history when we have to fight for our freedom, but now it is even more serious than before because the enemy is within the nation, and sad to say increasingly using illegitimate government power.

So, what is to be done? It’s simple. The first thing a new Prime Minister must do on being elected is to send an emissary to Brussels to begin immediate negotiations for withdrawal. No compromise, no deals – out! There does not have to be any referendum. The British people can speak in the election and give their mandate for such a policy. That will save on the cost of running a referendum.

The concepts of equality, anti discrimination and human rights all have a valid expression, but the way they are being used in the west is straight out of a communist or hard left copybook on how to take over a nation. The very fact that these things are being enforced by statute is an insult to any freedom loving person. Since New Labour came to power they have used the equality agenda to condition the British people into a new way of thinking, and it stands out like a sore thumb to those with a bit of discernment. It has its roots in the EU, and is another reason why we should leave this totalitarian monster in the making. No government has any business imposing an ideology on its people, indeed, much of the equality agenda is an imposition on the soul of this nation. Younger people of course will be more susceptible to it, older people influenced more by traditional family and Christian values will be far more sceptical. In the round, as I said, it makes for a far better society if people know how to behave because a common culture has been passed on to them which depends on the power of conscience to restrain evil behaviour. It knocks the spots off a society which has a morality imposed upon it from above like the equality agenda through the full force of the law. This is socialism and its older brother communism in action. The tragedy is that no main political party stands for the conservative point of view now. Dave’s modernising agenda is simply a bolt on to the ghastly New Labour project that has brought our nation to its knees. Behind what the EU is up to, and behind the equality, anti discrimination and diversity legislation is a coercive spirit, all must bow to its edicts. If that is not totalitarianism, I don’t know what is.

If you want to really understand what is going on then just listen to what Vladimir Bukovsky, a dissident from Soviet Russia, says about the present day UK and its relationship to Europe. He has a prophetic voice and states that the EU has created an intellectual gulag through political correctness, where if you speak your mind on things like race, gender, religion and your views do not fit the official line, you will be ostracised. That is exactly what has been happening in the UK especially under New Labour and now under David Cameron who has become the anointed one to continue the programme of political correctness so that we are all good subjects of the empire. If you want to hear the man himself, take a look at this You Tube clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgZrTjD1Te8.

What is the answer? The whole apparatus of human rights, equality, anti discrimination and diversity legislation needs to be examined, evaluated and be seen for what it is, to destroy our freedom and liberty. It creates problems where there were no problems before as it creates a hierarchy of rights whereby so called ‘victim groups’ can assert their rights over others through recourse to the law. Despite what is said, most people muddle along from day to day with one another without recourse to some law to protect their ‘rights.’ Mature people can take a bit of rough tossing and offence without taking those to court who upset them. This is a recipe for a divided, litiginous and fearful society. When I deal with a public official I want someone who deals with me honestly, politely, efficiently and with integrity. I am not interested in whether the person has ticked boxes declaring they are not racist, sexist, homophobic or Islamophobic. This agenda has been specifically designed to destroy the cultural norms of western society, to turn all our values upside down, but the end game is oppression.
